Mining and Rock Drilling
In down the hole drilling there is a need to lubricate the hammer, and this is often made by adding oil to the compressed air. Since the system is open this oil will leak out to the ground and will also make the machine dirty. Compared to mineral oils Sustainalube’s products have the following advantages:
No contamination of the ground and groundwater because the lubricants are water soluble and will dissolve and be diluted in the ground. This is good since lubricants are sprayed on the ground.
Easy cleaning of machines and no need for strong solvents as is the case with mineral oils.
No allergic reactions since lubricants do not cause any skin irritation and the low vapor pressure makes the risk for “oil mist” minimal.
