Sustainalube’s Ecolube series products are very suitable for the forest industry’s high demands on environmentally adapted products. Some examples are saw chain lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and chain drive lubricants. Compared to mineral oils they have the following advantages.
No “oil fog”, the rain can keep the windshield and the rest of the harvester clean.
No skin irritation, lubricants do not cause any skin irritation and the low vapor pressure makes the risk for “oil mist” minimal.
No contamination of the ground and groundwater, because the lubricants are water soluble and will dissolve and be diluted in the ground. This is good since saw chain lubricants are sprayed on the ground.
No cleanup is needed if 50-100 liters of hydraulic lubricant leaks out when a hose breaks. For mineral oils, the soil must be dug up and transported away to a landfill.
No fire risk because Sustainalube’s lubricants contain enough water to make them fire-resistant.
No soiling of sawn or painted planks at sawmills. Sustainalube has special products for sensitive areas of sawmills that solve the issue of staining planks from lubricants.
