Sustainalube’s Ecolube series is well-suited to meet the forest industry’s high demands for environmentally friendly products. Examples include saw chain lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and chain drive lubricants. Compared to mineral oils, they offer several advantages:
No “oil fog” – rain can keep windshields and harvesters clean.
No skin irritation – the lubricants do not irritate skin, and their low vapor pressure minimizes the risk of “oil mist.”
No ground or groundwater contamination – the lubricants are water-soluble, dissolving and diluting in the ground. This is important since saw chain lubricants are often sprayed on the ground.
No cleanup required if 50–100 liters of hydraulic fluid was to leak from a broken hose. With mineral oils, contaminated soil must be removed and sent to landfill.
No fire risk – the lubricants contain enough water to make them fire-resistant.
No staining of sawn or painted planks in sawmills. Sustainalube offers special products for sensitive areas to prevent lubricant stains on planks.
